Sheet 11 / Clients
The people who let us build the thing they were most nervous about
Everything below this line is a testimonial the business itself publishes, in full, with the client’s own name attached. It is not a Google review, and we have kept it that way on purpose: Envision is also rated separately on Google, and both are worth seeing.
5.0 / 5
Google rating, 6 reviews
The long-form testimonials on this page are separate: written and published by Envision’s own clients, some of them years after the project finished.
Sheet 11.1 / After the water
Three clients who came to Envision with a flooded house
Hurricane Ike in 2008, then Hurricane Harvey. These are the clients whose testimonials talk about rebuilding, not remodeling. Read together, they are the clearest account of what the firm does after a storm.
David Sharp
Client, new build after Hurricane Harvey
“We've been in our home for two years now and I can tell you there's not a wall out of plumb. There's no other house like it in Houston. I can't believe what a great experience it was, and the contractor I assumed I'd despise I now consider a friend.”
Corroborated
A five-star Google review under the same name appears on Envision’s listing.
Dick Swan
Client, four projects over fourteen years
“I have used Envision Design Build for four major projects over the last 14 years. Jack Knowlton, with his small professional crew and seasoned subcontractors, has never failed to do high-quality work with excellent communication throughout the project.”
David and Jackie Bergquist
Clients, remodel and addition after Harvey
“Garrett was invaluable to the success of the effort. He used qualified subcontractors and craftsmen. He coordinated them efficiently such that there was always forward progress and no back steps.”

Rebuild work on the coast has meant elevated construction, whole-house generators and safe rooms as well as the interior work. It is the same design-build promise applied to the hardest version of the job: one firm, one set of drawings, held to a schedule a displaced family is actually living against.
Sheet 11.2 / Repeat clients
Clients who came back, or came because someone else did
Dick Swan hired Envision four separate times over fourteen years. Ryan and Avril picked Jack over a designer with more local experience, and their permit set went through Houston with only minor corrections. The rest span custom homes, full remodels, and one client who chose Envision for a second Galveston project.
“I was really impressed with their work. I liked the pride Jack took in the job he was doing and his attention to detail. I've had previous experience with builders but never one who took so much time to help me make decisions.”
Suzi Colbert
Client, custom home
“What we appreciate the most about them is the way they helped us to build what we wanted in the most cost-effective way. From design to construction, we trust Envision to deliver, and they are batting a thousand.”
Katherine and David
Clients, two full remodels
“Even our builder as well as other builders and people in the business remark on how clean our plans look. We have had builders who have long ties to other designers ask for Jack's number based on the work he did for us.”
Ryan and Avril
Clients, West University custom home
“Jack's attention to detail is second to none and he takes great pride in his work. He never took shortcuts and did not view change orders as a way to boost his profits.”
Nick and Jen Deutsch
Clients, 1950s whole-house remodel
“When it comes to designing a new home or doing a remodel there is simply no one else I would ever consider. Jack is an exceptional listener and a master of creativity. He will turn your Dream House into reality.”
Michael E. Brennan
Client, Spring Valley and West Galveston Island

Sheet 11.3 / What holds it together
None of it depends on a stranger keeping their word
Nearly every testimonial on this page mentions the same two names. That is not an accident of a small company, it is the design-build case in practice: Jack and Garrett are on every project, the crew is small and known to them, and there is no separate contractor to hand a problem to when something does not go to plan.
Sheet 11.4 / Before it was finished
Katherine and David came back for a second full remodel
Two full remodels with the same firm, years apart, is its own kind of testimonial. Their read on the work is the plainest one on this page: cost-effective, delivered, trusted a second time.

Sheet 11.5 / Add your own
Bring us the house you have, or the lot you just bought
Envision Design Build has designed and built custom homes and remodels across Houston and Galveston since 1981. One firm holds the drawing and the build, from the first sketch to the day you move in.
